IUCN asked to hold trilateral conference on smog

ISLAMABAD: Regional Director of International Union of Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Aban Markal paid a courtesy call on Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan.

The minister said the IUCN should organise a trilateral conference including Pakistan, India and the International Union of Conservation of Nature to discuss the smog issue, a press release said.

He also discussed to establish an information centre on the snow leopard in Pakistan.

Markal agreed to conduct a bilateral conference and to provide technical support like movies and books on snow leopard for the information centre.

The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Romeena Khursheed Alam, Secretary for Ministry of Climate Change Khizer Hayat, Inspector General Forest Syed Mehmood Nasir and the IUCN country director.
