Viable efforts of local organisations have created awareness among the general public regarding the vote casting and its importance due to which the voters’ registration ratio has increased.

These views were expressed by Badin Election Commissioner Abdul Zubair Khan while addressing the participants of a public forum organised by Indus Consortium here on Thursday. He said that there was an immense importance of the vote for the development of the country and casting vote to the right people could lead to the development. Khan said that women were an important part of the society and their role for development could not be forgotten. He also asked the women to get their CNICs and vote registration.

Iqbal Hyder Qambrani from Indus Consortium said that CNIC was an identity of a person and only such card holders could enjoy their right of vote. Qambrani stressed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to play its role in facilitating the common people to register their votes.

Ms Nargis Khuwaja observed that despite many efforts female vote ratio was less than the males claiming that without participation of women the nation could not get the development goals. Senior journalists Abdullah Chandio and Allah Bachayo said that women-related issues were being highlighted by the local media. They also appreciated the efforts of Indus Consortium for spreading awareness among the people which increased the ratio of the votes especially in rural areas.
