- Mashhood says ‘Pakeeza Zindagi’ consists of more than 24 points
- Minister says material against abuse to be made part of curriculum
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that material related to stoppage of child abuse will be made part of school curriculum so that no one could dare exploit the innocent kids.
Addressing a press conference at the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board here, he disclosed that the government has prepared a booklet consisted of more than 24 points namely “Pakeeza Zindagi.” He said that important material would be added in this booklet and four lakh copies of this booklet would be published for free distribution in general public, teachers, students and their parents across the province.
He said that this booklet would guide the children and their parents about safety of children from such heinous crimes. He said that important information regarding children’s activities at their homes, schools and in the society along-with health-tips would be included in it. Similarly, regular teacher-parent meetings will also be held so that parents could remain abreast of activities of their kids.
The minister said that teams consisting of educationists and psychiatrists would start their work to sensitize the students about issues related to their safety from culprits. He emphasised that role of the national media was key to launch awareness raising campaign to stop child abuse at the grassroots. He said that the workshops and seminars would also be conducted for the awareness of the children, parents and the teachers.
“We are also working on teachers’ training,” he said. On the occasion, he condemned the rape-cum-murder of a three-year old girl in Mardan district of Pakhtunkhwa and asked if the opposition leaders ensure justice to this hapless girl, he said that it was better that instead of politics on bodies.
He said that the opposition should visit house of bereaved family to console with them. He made it clear that the Pakistan Muslim League-N does not believe politics over bodies and maintained that elements involved in the sit-in were in fact desirous of promoting anarchy in the country so that the CPEC could be hampered.
The minister said that incidents of cruelty against innocent children in the Pakhtunkhwa show that PTI has been failed there. Special Secretary Rana Hassan Akhtar, PCTB Chairman Muhammad Akram, PCTB Managing Director Abdul Qayyum and others were present on the occasion.
