ISLAMABAD: Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Wednesday inaugurated the newly renovated and refurbished wards of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to facilitate the incoming patients.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, he said that more facilities were being added to the PIMS to ensure the provision of better healthcare services to the patients.

He said that the ministry has planned several innovative plans to provide state-of-the-art facilities at all hospitals of the federal capital, adding that a new emergency has been established at PIMS besides setting up a new Pathology Department.

To ensure 100 percent presence of the hospital staff, a biometric system has been installed at PIMS, he said.

The minister said that 103 ventilators were functional at the hospital while for security purposes, CCTV cameras have also been installed.

A central air condition system would be operational at PIMS before next summers and a new solid waste management system would also be installed to address the issue of medical waste, said Dr Tariq.

He said that several other development projects were also in the pipeline aimed at improving the service delivery system.

In the next session of the Senate, a bill would be passed to separate the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University from PIMS, he said.

The minister said that everyone has to play their role for the country to progress rather than issuing political statements for petty gains.

The present government of PML-N is fully committed to serve the country through development projects, he added.
