BADIN: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, criticising the narrative of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has questioned the non-existence of justice to seven-year-old Zainab who was brutally raped and murdered in Kasur.
Addressing a press conference in Badin, Bilawal said, “We don’t just need to get justice for our kids but have to secure their future.” He stated that Sindh government made the child protection law to ensure that every child is protected.
“We have to educate our children,” Bilawal insisted. “Neither the Model Town martyrs got justice, nor will these children.” Bilawal insisted that despite obvious evidence, culprits of Zainab’s rape and murder are still at large, adding it was not the first such incident.
“Such incidents are regular, and my heart bleeds when I see such incidents occurring in the country,” he said.
Bilawal also denounced the murder of two protestors at the hands of the police during demonstrations following the Kasur incident.
“Why did the Punjab police take aim at unarmed citizens?” he said. “The nation needs to be told what Sharif is taking revenge for, from the citizens of Punjab.”
PPP chief said there is a clash between two ‘ladlay‘ (favourites) in the country.
“One favourite says that he owns assets but he is told that he owns none, while the other favourite says he does not own assets but the court says that he does,” he explained. “This is a clash between the two favourites.”
Criticising ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif over his long-running disdain for the judiciary’s decisions, Bilawal stated that if Nawaz Sharif thinks that decision against him was wrong then he has to accept that Shehbaz Sharif’s acquittal in Hudaibiya case was also an incorrect decision.
“You can’t handle any provinces, you couldn’t even handle Balochistan,” the PPP leader said criticising the government over Sanaullah Zehri’s replacement as Balochistan chief minister.
The PPP chairman also outlined Imran Khan’s “double standards”, saying Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Parvez Khattak has corruption charges against him. Not a single hospital was constructed in the past five years in the province, he added.
“These charges have never been investigated. Where is the accountability in KP?”
He then went on to comment on Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification on corruption charges, calling it a grand ‘hypocrisy’ where Imran supports a corrupt man. “You gave Jahangir’s seat to his son, could there be bigger hypocrisy?”
