SHC demands legal reasons for request for deed of compromise in Shahzeb murder case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday expressed its displeasure over the suspect’s lawyer asking for a deed of compromise in the Shahzeb Khan murder case.

As the hearing commenced, the SHC responded by questioning, “on which legal premises are the deed is being demanded?”

He was told by the suspect’s lawyer that the deed was requested because the session court has ordered them to present the record.

The court while exhibiting its displeasure over the demand for obtaining the deed of compromise by the suspects and the claimant party stated that it needed to be apprised of the reasons and legal grounds on which the deed of compromise was obtained. The session was adjourned due to the absence of the suspect’s lawyer.

Meanwhile, the sessions pertaining to Shahzeb’s murder case over the application submitted by the Civil society are being held, and the on the orders of the interior minister, names of the nominated suspects have been put on the ECL in the hearing held yesterday at the SC.

Last month, a south district and sessions court ordered Shahzeb Khan’s murderer Shahrukh Jatoi and three other accused to be released after Shahzeb’s father Aurangzeb Khan submitted an affidavit requesting the approval of Jatoi’s bail.

Other accused people in the murder case include Sajjad Talpur, Siraj Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari. In the affidavit, Aurangzeb agreed to pardon his son’s killer in the name of Allah and drop the case.
