No action to be taken against rebellious PML-N MPAs in Balochistan: report

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) on Monday decided not to take any action against the rebellious PML-N leaders who voted for Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, reported a local English daily.

This was discussed at a meeting between the PML-N Leader Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Jati Umra.

Party leaders have instructed PML-N Balochistan President and former chief minister Sanaullah Zahri to avoid taking any action against all those MPAs in Balochistan who were a part of the no-confidence motion against him.

This decision has mainly been taken in order to stop any further deterioration of the PML-N in Balochistan.

Zehri handed his resignation over to the governor of Balochistan last week, ahead of the no-confidence motion against him, to avoid getting voted out.

According to initial reports, Zehri had wanted to take strict action against all the rebellious leaders, which could have entailed termination of their party memberships along with provincial assembly memberships. He was, however, instructed not to go ahead with it by the PML-N leaders.

According to article 63 (A) of the Constitution, any lawmaker who goes against his party policy regarding the election of PM or CM or in case of a no-confidence motion can be disqualified on grounds of defection.
