KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah taking notice of the Intizar Ahmed murder case has decided to conduct a judicial inquiry.
The Sindh chief minister received a letter from Ishtiaq Ahmed requesting him to conduct a judicial inquiry into the murder of his son Imtiaz Ahmed who was killed at Khayaban-i-Ittihad.
The chief minister, just after receiving the letter talked to Ashfaq Ahmed on the telephone and assured him that he was going to conduct a judicial inquiry as desired by him. “Give me a day to finalize all the formalities for a judicial inquiry,” he requested.
He also told him that he was with him [Ishtiaq Ahmed] in redressing all his apprehensions and reservation in terms of the investigation into the murder of his son Intizar Ahmed.
The chief minister has directed the Sindh chief secretary to initiate the necessary process for a judicial inquiry.
Meanwhile, a medico-legal report released on Tuesday confirmed that 19-year-old Intizar Ahmed died on spot after receiving a bullet wound behind his ear.
Earlier, Ishtiaq Ahmed had said that he lacks trust in the police after being shown a CCTV footage in which his son was aimed and targeted by the ACLC officers.
Talking to the Geo News, Ishtiaq said that the CCTV footage showed that Intezar was stopped by a black car after which another car arrived from the other side. Following that, he described, a few armed men arrived on the motorcycle and started firing at Intezar when a man from the car gave a signal to the men. Also, he said that another man kept firing in the air.
He said that there was a girl sitting in the girl but is not aware who she was. However, he demanded that the girl should be brought forwards since she is the only eye-witness of the killing of his son.
DIG (South) Azad Khan said that SSP’s presence at the crime scene creates a lot of doubts, yet nothing can be concluded until the investigation is being completed. He welcomed the judicial inquiry ordered by the CM, saying that it will ensure transparency in the enquiry.
Regarding the eyewitness who remained unscathed in the incident, the DIG said that due to her being an eyewitness it is important not to disclose her identity.
