ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Defence Production and Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain Tuesday met the Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami and held a discussion over issues of mutual interest.
Earlier, on arrival at Imam Khomeini International Airport, the minister and his delegation were received by Iran’s Deputy Minister for International Affairs Brigadier General M Ahadi, a press release said.
Referring to the close brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, Rana Tanveer highlighted the great potential which existed between the two countries in various sectors, including defence.
Reciprocating the Pakistani minister’s statement, the Iranian defence minister emphasised that close relations between Pakistan and Iran could contribute to the stability of the region. He also called for a greater exchange between defence establishments of the two countries and to explore opportunities for cooperation in defence industries.
Rana Tanveer also visited the Export Promotion Centre of Iranian Ministry of Defence, where he was briefed about the potential of Iran’s defence industry.
