Cabinet meeting approves amendment in FIA Act, 1947

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Tuesday chaired a federal cabinet meeting at Prime Minister’s Office where an amendment in the Schedule of FIA Act, 1974 was approved. After the amendment, certain offences under Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) committed through cyber and other electronic means would be included in the Schedule of FIA Act, 1974.

The cabinet also accorded approval for appointment of chief executive officer/managing director of Pakistan LNG Ltd. (PLL).

The cabinet accorded approval for signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Bahrain News Agency (BNA). It also ratified recommendation of the Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Cases (CCLC) in respect of the Ehtram-e-Ramzan (Amendment) Bill, 2017, aimed at enhancing penalties for violation of Ramzan discipline and closure of cinemas/theatres during fasting hours.

Further, the cabinet deferred ratification of recommendation of CCLC in respect of Amendment in the Loans for Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Purposes Rules, 1973.

The cabinet constituted a committee to review the said rules and propose recommendations within two weeks. The committee was to be chaired by Minister for Privatisation Daniyal Aziz with other members, including Minister for Power Awais Ahmed Leghari and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan.
