- How love makes the world go round
Love makes the world go round. Well, Madonna seems to believe so, and far be it from the author to question the expert opinion of the world’s foremost authority on love! And while one nods in reverential agreement, there’s many a manifestation of love which makes one admire the fascinating subtleties involved. For love, a strange animal at the best of times, often resorts to extraordinarily mysterious ways while making the abovementioned revolutions of the world possible. That a fine line separates love from hate beguiles the casual spectator further. A complete survey of the unusual manifestations of love is beyond the thousand-odd words allowed in these pages, so the author will content himself with describing briefly three such love affairs, leaving the analysis to better minds than his own. The love stories (in no particular order) are as follows:
I: Pakistanis have always had a complicated love-hate relationship with the US. A public opinion survey, conducted in the late 80s, had asked ordinary Pakistanis to name the country they believed was most responsible for the problems of the world. Another question (posed to a different set of people) had asked which country they wanted to immigrate to. ‘United States’ was the overwhelming response to both questions. A case of sour grapes, perhaps? That was thirty years ago, but the situation is hardly different today. And it’s not limited to the salt of the earth either: the elites – politicians, military and civil bureaucrats, even mullahs – love to arrange for their progeny to settle in the US, while making all the right noises locally. Is it plain old hypocrisy, or a plan to bring about the US downfall by weakening it from the inside – getting large numbers of Pakistanis getting settled in the US being the intended mode of that weakening? Only experts can tell which.
Evangelical Christians are absolutely devoted to Jews and the state of Israel. Jews, Christians and Muslims all have their own version of the events that are going to precede and trigger Judgment Day
II: Evangelical Christians are absolutely devoted to Jews and the state of Israel. Jews, Christians and Muslims all have their own version of the events that are going to precede and trigger Judgment Day. All these stories commonly feature a lot of violence and blood, but the storyline differs considerably depending on the version. While many of the groups and characters are the same, the ending of each story is dramatically different from the other. The Evangelical Christian version features the Armageddon, The Second Coming of Christ, and Rapture – apparently none of which will happen unless the Jewish people maintain control of Israel and Jerusalem, and consolidate Israel as a Jewish state with a might far superior to its enemies. The narrative ends in wholesale slaughter of the Jews; and the Christians inheriting the Kingdom of God – apparently two very satisfactory prospects as far as the Evangelicals are concerned. These last twists are not usually mentioned in polite company but everybody (including the Jews) know them regardless. Most Jews – pragmatists that they are – take this cynical love on the part of Evangelicals like a rich man takes the romantic advances of a woman who he knows is only interested in his money. They love it.
III: Women love all women. Well, at least those who have not wronged them personally. Of course, there are some exceptions to the rule: women from the in-laws, women who are good-looking, women in the same profession, women who are successful, women in the family, and women out of the family, for example, don’t make the list. This has prompted men (and some women) to observe that the greatest enemies of women are women themselves, who act as the biggest impediment in the way of making life better for them. To be fair, women are great champions of women rights, and wholeheartedly love ‘woman’, the abstract concept; it’s only specific women in flesh-and-blood that they can’t stand, making each one a rival of everyone else.
The ‘best friend’ deserves a special mention here. Have you, reader, ever been tactless enough to have praised the conduct of a woman to her best friend? She may have been graceful enough to keep her feelings on the subject to herself – albeit barely. Have you been reckless enough to have praised the best friend for her looks? Chances are that you would have inadvertently triggered an explosion of jealousy. What is true for the best friend is true for all women in varying degrees. Obviously, the heart has reasons that reason knows not; which the author will not presume to analyse. For that analysis and the resulting insight, the interested parties are advised to look up Sigmund Freud, who appears to have said everything about such matters. Or was it Carl Jung? – well, it was one of the two. No, on second thoughts I think it was Sigmund Freud.
Spot on, Momo…. beautifully expressed!
There are some hard facts we all care to ignore. The people who are seen to be defaming any system/religion are also the people claiming to belong to that system/religion. For example millions of Europeans led a crusade against Christianity when they led their violent onslaught on the holy lands belonging to Asian people, very much in the footsteps of their Godless Roman forefathers. They led a campaign of their treason against Lord’s commands such as. “Thou shalt not steal”. “Thou shalt not commit murder”. “Thou shalt not lay claim on the belongings of others”
Is it not bad time that we had learned that the people who are the first victims of the most evil people on our earth are the people of the USA . Those few evil people, have organised to rob the people of the USA of their hard earned tax dollars, then go on to use those tax dollars to create trouble throughout the world as everyone can see happening. Why just a few evil people are able to do what they do is because they have organised themselves to be able to do what they want and the victims i.e. millions of people have NOT organised themselves to be able to deter those evil people. So it is bad time that people started organising their Peoples’ Union starting from their localities where they live. People everywhere in the world need to organise themselves thus.
Muslims? Are there Muslims to be seen anywhere. No. One cannot see Muslims anywhere. Why? If there were Muslims around the very first thing they would have done is that they had organised Peoples’ Union. Muslims are those who obey the Lord and every Muslims is under Lord’s command to go forward and create their Peoples’ Union and then work together to bring sanity, love and peace in this world.
What do we see all around us? Imposters nothing but imposters. People claiming to belong to a religion while their deeds give every proof that such people are not in practice of what they claim. For example. If Peoples’ Union and consequently the prevalence of Udl wul Ehsaan in the habits and practice is not to be seen in a place, it is a vivid proof that Muslims do not exist in such a place. Correct me where I go wrong.
