LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami (JI) Pakistan chief Senator Sirajul Haq said Monday that the shadow of uncertainty loomed large over the general elections in Pakistan and all political parties should unite under the constitution to steer the country out of this chaotic situation.

He said this while addressing the central working committee of JI at Mansoora. Sirajul Haq said that the general elections should be held according to the final schedule and should be free, fair and transparent, adding that no unconstitutional step should be tolerated in this regard.

The JI chief said that the entire nation should be ready to face the United States (US) and President Trump should be informed that the situation in Afghanistan was worsening due to the presence of the US/NATO forces there.

He said that no nation could be put on the right path through an armed invasion, as such an action would always lead to destruction. He further said that the world community should press for the eviction of foreign forces from Afghanistan. Instead of relying on the US, we should be careful about Trump’s designs, he added.

Sirajul Haq said that if the general elections were not held on time, an unconstitutional situation would be created in the country which may lead to political instability. He also said that the killers of Zainab had not been traced even after a week, which had increased a sense of insecurity among the people while also raising a question mark over the efficiency of the Punjab Police. The tall claims of good governance made by the rulers had been exposed and parents were now afraid to send their children to schools, he added.
