MULTAN: Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana said Sunday that the government is working on introducing amendments to the local government (LG) laws to create a balance of power between the representatives of the people.
He said the local government representatives were an asset and strength of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) at the grass-root level.
Talking to a delegation of LG vice-chairmen, he said that the government could not ignore the public representatives and different measures were underway to address their concerns.
He urged the visiting delegation to extend proposals regarding making amendments to the LG laws, while adding that every elected representative had great importance. Special prayers were offered for the minor girl Zainab, who was killed in Kasur after being raped by an unidentified culprit.
