PM inaugurates NIC at Islamia College

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbassi Saturday said that the government is working to facilitate the young generation by creating endless opportunities for development for them through internet connectivity.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of National Incubation Centre (NIC) at Islamia College Peshawar, he said the centre would definitely cater to the needs of the young generation to get global access to information through the internet.

He said the incubation centre would eventually explore the capabilities of the young generation and serve as a bridge by giving them access to opportunities available in the national and international markets.

The prime minister said that the provision of broadband facility was the priority of the government, adding that it would help bring the youth of remote and tribal areas into the national mainstream. He also said that facilitation of the young generation would eliminate extremism and curb Kalashnikov culture in Pakistan, thus opening new vistas of growth and prosperity for them.

He said that the government had completed development projects worth billions of rupees, including electricity generation, provision of Sui gas and establishment of industrial zones.

Furthermore, the prime minister said that NIC was a pilot project that would prove to be a milestone in utilising the energies of youth for the country’s overall progress and development. He said that the establishment of the incubation centre would also bring investment by harnessing ideas of people and transforming these into opportunity.

This was the first government that had focused on this important sector and issued new internet licenses, thus paving the way for technological development and improving business/trade activities across the country, he added.

Moreover, Abbasi said that accomplishing big tasks was not an easy task, but the government did a marvellous job, despite opposition, while adding it was now up to the people to take the right decisions after five or four months.

He also appreciated Islamia College for its role in the development of the youth and announced to include renovation costs of Islamia College in PSDP. He also announced to allocate Rs 50 million for the college building.

The ceremony was also addressed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rehman, PM Advisor Ameer Muqam and Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb was also present on the occasion.
