Arrest murderer, rapist of Zainab, CM Shehbaz directs IGP

LAHORE: Punjab chief minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed the IGP to arrest the heartless murderer and rapist of the minor girl immediately. He said that no excuses will be accepted and the arrest of the accused should be ensured without any wastage of time.

The chief minister issued these directives while chairing a meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order held on Saturday. The Inspector General Police (IGP) gave a briefing on the developments on the callous rape and murder case of the minor girl in Kasur.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz said that facts should be brought to the public after the arrest of the accused so that the victim family gets justice. He said that the extreme brutality was inflicted on the minor girl and the heartless accused will have to pay for it, adding that the killer could not escape justice and will get exemplary punishment.

The chief minister said that all the requirements of justice will be fulfilled in the deaths of two persons in the firing incident, and the accused will be punished. He said that he will personally monitor the progress on both cases.

Directing the IGP to visit Kasur daily to review the progress on both cases, the chief minister said that the IGP for this purpose can use the helicopter of the chief minister. While directing the DG of the Punjab forensic laboratory and the additional secretary home department to immediately leave for Kasur, he said that both the officers will discharge the affairs of their concerning departments in connection to both cases.

Shehbaz Sharif said that he was under extreme agony and stress due to the case and all he wants is the accused to be arrested.

Provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah Khan, Lt Col (r) Ayub Ghadi and Khawaja Imran Nazir, spokesperson of the Punjab government Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, chief secretary, IGP and other concerned officials attended the meeting in Lahore, while the head of the joint investigation team, RPO Multan, RPO Sheikhupura and DPO Kasur attended the meeting through video link.
