President promulgates ordinance clearing path for direct CDA hiring: report

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has promulgated an ordinance which will allow government departments to hire civil servants at key positions, according to a report by a private media outlet.

On Wednesday the federal cabinet introduced an amendment to that Capital Development Authority (CDA) ordinance 1960 which will allow civil servants to be hired as CDA chairman, vice-chairman and financial advisor.

Earlier, the Establishment Division has issued no objection certificates (NOC) for hiring officers in the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on a regular basis, a longstanding demand of the body, but one which was never granted by the government before.

Moreover, the establishment division also granted NOC for 37 posts in BPS-17, including 11 assistant directors for E&M, 12 civil assistant directors, 11 town planners, one traffic engineer, one assistant town planner and one boiler engineer.

The management services wing also gave the go-ahead for recruiting officials for three posts in BPS-16 including two assistant town planners and an assistant quantity surveyor. Further, 30 posts for civil sub-engineers in BPS-14 and one post in BPS-11 for surveyor were approved.
