LAHORE/QUETTA – As the Balochistan Assembly voted on Saturday to elect its new Leader of the House, after a weeklong political crisis, the chairman of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif, a former Prime Minister of Pakistan, had to be escorted out of the building, after creating turbulence.
The opposition in the Balochistan Assembly has announced full support to helping Sharif being carried outside the building following his failed attempt to replace Sanaullah Zehri who resigned as the Chief Minister due to lawmakers’ no-confidence motion.
“No, you aren’t eligible for Balochistan Assembly either,” Deputy Opposition Leader in the Assembly, Engineer Zamruk Khan Achakzai, shouted as Nawaz Sharif was escorted outside as the PML-N chairman chanted, “I want to be the prime minister of Balochistan!”
“No, you can’t be the Prime Minister of Balochistan,” Abdul Quddus Bizenjo said amidst chaos. “Only I have the right to be that.”
It is worth mentioning here that a no-trust motion against Nawaz Sharif is also scheduled to be presented in the assembly to avoid similar scenes in the future.
PML-N insiders confirm that the senior party leadership is currently doing their best to convey to Nawaz Sharif that the same rules and regulations of Pakistan apply in Balochistan as well.
“Yes, it’s not Punjab but it’s still a part of Pakistan,” a senior PML-N leader was heard telling Nawaz Sharif.
