ISLAMABAD: Japanese Ambassador Takashi Kurai Friday praised Pakistan’s role in eradicating the scourge of terrorism in the country.

During a call on meeting with Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Miftah Ismail, the Japanese diplomat was felicitated by Ismail on assuming his new responsibilities and wished him the best in his tenure, a press statement issued by the finance ministry said.

Kurai shared details with the advisor about a high-level Pak-Japan policy dialogue in February, where cooperation in industrial and agricultural sectors would be specially taken up for discussion.

A discussion was also held between the finance adviser and the Japanese diplomat about empowerment of youth through skill development. On the occasion, Ismail welcomed Japan’s technical support in connection with anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing operations. He said that such technological cooperation would improve Pakistan’s fight against terrorism.

Ismail asked Kurai to make efforts to encourage more Japanese companies to invest in Pakistan, while assuring him of his full support in this regard. Senior officials of the Finance and Economic Affairs Division were also present on the occasion.
