LAHORE: Former governor Punjab and member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf core committee Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Thursday issued a white paper on “increasing child molestation, sexual violence, deteriorating law and order situation and role of the failed government”.

During one year, 1,725 cases of rape and 195 cases of gang rape have been reported with a daily average of five. In one year, 6,000 people have been killed in violent incidents. 100 women and children were killed after sexual assaults. 41,000 incidents of theft and dacoity have been registered while 150,000 have been reported. 76,000 court absconders including 500 with head money and 109 terrorists are committing crimes on daily basis.

According to the white paper, 74 percent cases have been reported in rural areas, while 26 percent in urban areas. On the other hand, the ratio of apprehension of criminals is less than 20 percent.

Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar demanded the government to trial the accused of sexual violence and child molestation in military courts. He also demanded a quick trial and public hanging of the accused in Zainab’s case. He lamented the efforts of the Punjab government to curb child molestation because in Pakistan 4-5 children become the victims of child molestation on a daily basis, while the government does nothing.

The Kasur and Faisalabad districts top the list of child molestation cases. 3,100 mysterious deaths have been reported. The role of the law enforcement agencies is limited to “fake search operations”. 3,500 people committed suicide in Punjab, while 209 were killed during dacoity incidents. The Punjab police have failed to trace the two missing German citizens Jeewani Spato and Bird. The police have also failed to trace the dead body of the Canada-settled Indian banker Rajwind Core Gul. 34,000 cases were registered in Punjab while the registration of one million cases was adjourned on technical basis. In Lahore, 335 cases of women being raped and 31 cases of gang rape were reported within the last year. 2017 also witnessed a terrifying hike in the cases of street crimes and the incompetence of the police was also at its peak.
