One dead in clash over land possession in Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: One person lost his life while two others were injured in a clash over land possession between two parties in a private housing society in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

The family of the deceased claimed that some influential persons attacked the society and resorted to heavy firing. The accused used live ammunition injuring three people including, Mohammad Yousuf, the guard of the society.  

The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment where Mohammad Yousuf succumbed to his injuries. 

Afterwards, heirs of deceased placed the dead body at Fawara Chowk and burned tyre’s to block the traffic in order to register their protest.

They blamed the Rawalpindi police for the murder and raised slogans against the Rawalpindi Central Police Officer Israr Abbasi.

Police sources said that Mohammad Yousuf died of the bullet fired by Sheikh Waheed who took his body to an undisclosed location and threw it on the roof of an office building inside the housing society.

Subsequently, Mohammad Yousuf succumbed to his injuries in the District Headquarters Hospital.

On the complaint of Mohammad Yousuf’s brother, names of Sheikh Waheed and Ghulam Rasool were nominated in the First Information Report (FIR) by Police Station Saddar Barooni.

The heirs of the dead accused that Sheikh Waheed, Ghulam Rasul and Wasif Shah and their accomplices were involved in the firing, and added that the accused did not allow them to shift Yousuf to the hospital for medical treatment that led to his death.
