ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here, on Thursday, adjourned the hearing of the Maulana Azam Tariq murder case till January 18, due to the absence of the prosecution witnesses.

ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjamand picked the murder case for hearing.

The accused Syed Sabtain Kazmi was produced before the court under foolproof security arrangements.

The accused’s counsel Syed Sikandar Abbas Gillani appeared before the court seeking acquittal of his client.

He argued that there was insufficient evidence against Sabtain Kazmi.

Meanwhile, the two witnesses, Muhammad Alam Tariq and Rashid Farooqi did not appear before the court to record their statements.

The court again served notices to the witnesses and adjourned the hearing of the case till January 18.
