Suicide attack case registered in Quetta

QUETTA: A case in connection with Tuesday’s suicide attack near Balochistan Assembly has been registered in the Civil Lines police station on Wednesday under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 1997.

The deadly attack had claimed the lives of four policemen while injuring 18 others. According to the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team, around eight to 10 kilogrammes of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were used in the incident.

Meanwhile, a large number of people offered the funeral prayers of the martyred police personnel at Police Lines Wednesday. Balochistan Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari, Quetta Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Abdul Razzaq Cheema, senior officials of the police department, their relatives and friends attended the funeral prayers of the martyred policemen. Later, the bodies were sent to the native towns of the martyred personnel.

In another terrorist attack on Wednesday, unidentified armed men shot dead a man in Nasirabad area of Turbat district.

According to police sources, armed assailants opened fire at Muhammad Bakhsh and fled the scene. As a result, he died on the spot due to bullet injuries. The body of the deceased was handed over to his heirs after completion of legal formalities.
