Awareness seminar on influenza held at LGH

LAHORE: Keeping in view the present circumstances of influenza, an awareness seminar was held at the Lahore General Hospital where principal Post Graduate Medical Institute Prof Dr Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab was the chief guest, and medical experts delivered lectures on the prevention and cure of the spreading disease.  Prof Dr Tayyab said that special arrangements have been made at the General Hospital to deal with the patients of influenza while the doctors and paramedical staff working in the influenza wards would be equipped with the vaccine and necessary precautionary measures for the disease. He told that the hospital is on high alert and maximum arrangements would be ensured in the light of the directions of the Punjab government. He also said that he would monitor the situation himself and no patient would be left unattended.

At the seminar, Prof Khalid Waheed, director research Ghazala Roohi and Dr Razi Rizwi gave lectures and said that there is no doubt that influenza is an epidemic disease which can easily be spread through sneezing, body to body touch and other sources, but instead of being afraid of the disease, we should keep an eye on its symptoms and contact the hospital in case of any indications.  They also said that if it is not treated properly, it may be dangerous for health. Medical superintendent Lahore General Hospital Dr Ghulam Sabir and other senior doctors also participated in the seminar and answered a number of questions regarding influenza. A presentation on the disease and its symptoms was also given.
