More than 27 tons of smuggled drugs recovered

QUETTA: Levies Forces carried out a successful operation in Lasbela, on Tuesday, and recovered more than 27 tons of drugs that were been smuggled from Awaran to Karachi.

According to details, Lasbela Assistant Commissioner Izat Nazi Baloch, received a tip off regarding the smugglers.

The assistant commissioner formed a team headed by Tehsildar Bela Naseer Ahmad Jamot and Check Post Incharge Muhammad Rafiq.

The team set up a check post and carried out a thorough check of every vehicle that passed through it.

During the checking, more than 27 tons of high-quality drug was found hidden in secret enclosures of a truck with registration number RIW-1089.

The Levies Force took the truck into custody and arrested the truck driver and filed a case against him.

Later on, the assistant commissioner held a press conference at Lasbela Levies Forces Headquarter and informed that the recovered quantity of drugs is valued at millions of rupees in the global market.

“Drug addiction is a fatal disease for our society which is affecting many houses and ruining lives of people,” said the commissioner and added that, “Levies Force are making efforts to prevent drug trafficking. No matter how powerful the elements involved in the crime are, the government will deal firmly with every one of them.”

Assistant Commissioner Izat Nazir Baloch took charge one month ago and this is his third major operation against the drug mafia.
