Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat has finally gotten the green signal and is all set to be released on January 25. The movie will be clashing with Akshay Kumar’s PadMan, which is slated to release on the same day.
When Akshay was asked to comment on the clash, the actor said, “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come, both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them.”
Sonam Kapoor who will be seen opposite Akhsay in film expressed her happiness for Padmavat’s release. She said, “It is great that the movie is releasing. There is a need for competition when it comes to films and high time that that film releases. Good cinema is good cinema. I don’t believe in competition. Our film is very simple and sweet, and honestly, I am just happy that the film is releasing, more than anything else, and I hope the film does well.”
PadMan is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham. It is the story of how one man came up with a revolutionary method of producing cost-effective sanitary napkins, and empowered thousands of women across the country in the process.
In an earlier interview, when Akshay on the topic of menstruation had said, “If you change nothing, nothing will change. It’s not about being bold, but about breaking taboos that hold us back. I have lived with women all my life, yet I have learnt more about the topic while making this film than ever before. I do not mind who I offend or whose stomach I turn by being bold, this is not the Stone Age; menstruating is natural.”
