PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha said Monday that the creation of political crisis in Balochistan province is tantamount to sabotaging the Senate elections scheduled to be held in March.
Talking to reporters, Nalotha said that political instability and confusion was being created in Balochistan in a bid to halt Senate elections in the country. He said that postponement of Senate elections would be tantamount to violation of the constitution and weakening of democracy in the country.
“Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri is an elected chief minister of Balochistan and there is no need of no-confidence motion against him as only five months are left in the tenure of Balochistan Assembly,” he said. He also said, “Although a no-confidence motion was the democratic right of the opposition, but its use at this critical time was illogical.”
Furthermore, Nalotha said that PML-N and allied parties were united in Balochistan and would re-endorse confidence in the leadership and policies of Balochistan chief minister by rejecting no-confidence motion with an overwhelming majority.
The PML-N government had undertaken record development works in Balochistan, besides giving the province major shares in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to bring positive changes in the lives of the local population.
He said that a 10-year massive uplift package for Balochistan had already been announced by the prime minister that would help bring cities and towns of the province at par with developed areas of the country. Under the plan, the people in every union council would be provided basic facilities, including education, drinking water and gas, he added.
He also said that Gwadar port project was a gift of PML-N government for the people of Balochistan to help bring an economic and industrial revolution in the province.
Moreover, Nalotha said that the large public meeting at Kot Momin addressed by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had unnerved opponents as the popularity of PML-N president had immensely increased among the masses after his disqualification.
He also said that the arrival of 1.75 million international and 38.8 million domestic tourists to the country, successful holding of Peace Cup 2017 in Miranshah, North Waziristan Agency, Asia Peace Festival, Pakistan Motorcar Rally from Khunjrab to Gwadar, Pakistan Super League final in Lahore, establishment of Counter Terrorism Force, elimination of all no-go areas and rehabilitation of temporarily displaced people showed that peace and normalcy had fully returned to the country.
“The PML-N government will complete its five-year term, after which elections will be held in accordance with the Constitution,” he added. He further said that PML-N was the only party with strong roots amongst the masses, while adding that it would emerge victorious in the upcoming general elections in all federating units, including KP, on the basis of development works and service to the people.
