SUKKUR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while highlighting the importance of women empowerment has said that all political parties need to work together to provide relief to women from underprivileged backgrounds.
He expressed these views while speaking to a gathering in Sukkur on Monday.
Lauding Asif Ali Zardari’s government for initiating revolutionary programs such as the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Bilawal said that the party would strengthen the BISP once it comes into power after the 2018 general elections.
The PPP chief also said that PPP has played an important role in empowering women.
“PPP introduced a pro-women legislation,” he said.
Bilawal alleged that the government of Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz (PML-N) has taken measures against NGOs and INGOs, while non-government organisations play an important role in the country.
Saying that PPP is working with various NGOs to promote development, Bilawal added that the party also supports organisations that support women.
Nawaz wants PML-N’s govt to end:
Referring to the no-confidence motion submitted against the Balochistan chief minister, Sanaullah Zehri on January 2, Bilawal said on Sunday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif does not want the government to complete its tenure.
“Does the federal government even care about what’s happening in Balochistan? Has a single federal minister even gone there? It seems Nawaz doesn’t want govt to complete its term,” tweeted the angry PPP chairman.
The no-confidence motion submitted last week by lawmakers Syed Agha Raza and Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo contained the signatures of 14 MPAs.
