No-trust movement is punishment to Nawaz: Senator Kakar

BY YASIR HABIB KHAN

LAHORE: No-Trust movement that is whipping up a chaotic storm in Baluchistan as well as the entire country is spineless and will lose its steam soon since the required numbers to overthrow the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri are not at the disposal of dissenters.

This was said by Senator and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Secretary General Usman Khan Kakar during a discussion forum titled “boiling Baluchistan situation” organised by PML-N central media coordinator Muhammad Mehdi at the cosmopolitan club in Lahore on Friday.

Punjab University (PU) Pakistan study centre Professor Dr Amjad Magsi and Baluchistan University History Department Head Professor Kaleem Ullah Khan also spoke on the occasion.

“Allied parties have thrown full weight behind the PML-N government and its Quaid Nawaz Sharif touting him as a symbol of democracy. Pakistan’s destiny lies in democracy and those conspirators hatching treacherous plots to topple a democratic government in Baluchistan through unfair means will never see their vested agendas to come true,” the senator said responding to a query.

He called upon all political parties to stand united to thwart such heinous plans to safeguard democracy.

He said that the no-confidence motion was a direct attack on federation, parliament and the rule of democracy.

“As per a hidden scheme, the establishment wants to topple the Baluchistan government so that a pawn chief minister comes into power to dissolve the government ultimately. This rampage will let the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have a justification to dissolve its own government. Sindh government will also follow the anti-democratic frenzy. After three assemblies fall, immense pressure will be built on the national assembly. Drop scene will be to put the national assembly to rest in order to pave way for a technocrat government. The eventual malicious goal of the establishment is to bulldoze senate elections by hook or crook,” he said.

He pressed hard on empowering federation and Senate and giving them their legitimate space to flourish to have a strong democracy.

He also stressed that the army and judiciary should also be held accountable.

PML-N central media coordinator said that PML-N government in Baluchistan has been brought under unnatural political crisis as a punishment to Nawaz Sharif because the former prime minister mainstreamed Baluchistan separatist groups, established peace, diverted resources for the uplift of  the province and its people, materialised CPEC to develop the region on socio-economic, financial, trade and industry fronts.

Punjab University Professor Amjad Magsi said that Pakistan’s survival and development was heavily embedded in democracy. No trust movement and such other malevolent tactics would serve no purpose other than destabilization and derailment of the system, he added. He urged upon all institutions to join hands to deflect all conspiracies against the parliament and the constitution.
