KARACHI: The Karachi traffic police, on Friday, was forced by angry commuters to open Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Quaideen which had been blocked due to VVIP movement.

According to reports, the annoyed commuters bombarded the police officials on duty with questions as to why the road had been blocked. However, when the police failed to provide any suitable answers, the commuters then took it upon themselves to get the road cleared.

Police officials have denied that the blockade was purely a matter of protocol.

“This wasn’t about any protocol,” said Mohammad Idrees, a police official. “But we have to provide security to VVIPs due to the prevalent security threat. And the road was only blocked for a little while. The traffic police only blocks  roads for three to five minutes max.”
