ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has called US President Donald Trump “ignorant” and “ungrateful”, while reacting to the US president’s anti-Pakistan remarks.
Trump, in his New Year’s day tweet, had accused Pakistan of harbouring terrorists and threatened to cut off its aid.
“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools,” Trump had said. “They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!”
Tweeting out his reaction on Wednesday, Imran said he had opposed Pakistan becoming part of the US-led war on terror from the start. “Now, after suffering 70k dead, over $100 bn loss to economy, when we had nothing to do with 9/11, constant “do more” US taunts & after nation has been humiliated by Trump, GoP saying the same,” he wrote.
From the start I had opposed Pak becoming part of US-led so-called “War on Terror”. Now, after suffering 70k dead, over $100 bn loss to economy, when we had nothing to do with 9/11, constant ” do more” US taunts & after nation has been humiliated by Trump, GoP saying the same.

“Lesson to be learnt by us is never to be used by others for short term paltry financial benefits ever again,” he continued, adding, “Our society became radicalised and polarised as we helped CIA create jihadi groups; then, a decade later, we tried to eliminate them as terrorists on US orders.”

“And now Pakistan being blamed for US failures in Afghanistan by an ignorant and ungrateful Donald Trump,” Imran tweeted.

Pakistan has now suffered the ultimate insult: being made scapegoat for US failure in Afghanistan, the PTI chief added.
Finally Pak suffers ultimate insult: being made scapegoat for US failure in Afghanistan. A couple of thousand or so Haqqanis allegedly in Pak are supposed to be cause of why the most well-equipped mly force in history, 150k NATO troops + over 200k Afghan army could not succeed? https://t.co/ACmi72ZSKm

In a follow up to the United States (US) President Donald Trump’s tweet accusing Islamabad of being a liar, the White House on Wednesday said that details of the super power’s policy regarding Pakistan will be announced in the next 24-48 hours.
“In terms of specific actions, I think you’ll see some more details come out on that in the next 24 to 48 hours,” US Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told the US media in a press briefing.
She circled around questions about the reason behind the president’s tweets, where he threatened to cut off aid to Pakistan, saying that Trump was “following through” on his policy regarding Afghanistan and South Asia that was announced last year.
“We know that Pakistan can do more to fight terrorism, and we want them to step up and do that,” she said.
She added that Trump feels Pakistan “is not doing enough” to combat terrorism.
HALEY ACCUSES PAKISTAN OF ‘PLAYING DOUBLE GAME FOR YEARS’:
Minutes earlier, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley announced that the US was withholding $255 million in aid to Islamabad, accusing Pakistan of failing to cooperate fully in the fight against terrorism.
“The administration is withholding $255 million in assistance to Pakistan. There are clear reasons for this. Pakistan has played a double game for years,” Haley told reporters at the United Nations on Tuesday.
“They work with us at times, and they also harbour the terrorists that attack our troops in Afghanistan,” she said.
“That game is not acceptable to this administration. We expect far more cooperation from Pakistan in the fight against terrorism,” she added.
“The president is willing to go to great lengths to stop all funding from Pakistan as they continue to harbour terrorists.”

America fed Paakistan with over 33 billion dollars in aid. Without American aid paki people would have starved to death maybe it would’ve been a good thing to starve these terrorist supporting aid begging leaches.
