Rawalpindi NAB arrests Muzaffar Nishat

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Muzaffar Nishat S/O Nishat Ahmad Khan who is accused of involvement in corruption under section 9 and 10 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.

The accused was arrested on his arrival to Pakistan at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad.

As per details, Nishat is accused of misusing his authority as a member of purchase committee for the purchase of vehicles. He violated the purchase rules by recommending advance payments to vehicle dealers.

The advance payments approved by Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Chairman Anwar Khan were made without any guarantee, in clear violation of the committee rules.

Subsequently, Rs9.7 million was misappropriated in the shape of exorbitant rates and fraudulent transfer from PARC’s account to Alpha Motors & Wings Motors.

The accused deliberately avoided appearing before the court and absconded and has been declared as a Proclaimed Offender.

Arrest warrants of the accused have been issued and he shall be produced before Islamabad Accountability Court tomorrow, January 3, for physical remand under NAB Ordinance 1999.
