ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary committee on Monday directed the National Highway Authority (NHA), Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and the Karachi commissioner to remove encroachments from the service lane of Lyari Expressway, according to a report by a private media outlet.
The NA Standing Committee on communication held a meeting in the parliament house and expressed concern over continuous and sprawling encroachment on the service lane of the Lyari Expressway despite the fact that compensation had been paid to land-owners, the committee directed officials of the departments concerned to remove the encroachment. The committee also directed that a comprehensive report should be submitted in the next meeting.
The committee’s Chairman, Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi presided over the meeting which was attended by Sarzameen, Chaudhry Khalid Javid Warraich, Dr Darshan, Nazir Ahmed Bughio, Salim Rehman, Engr Hamidul Haq Khalil, Naseema Hafeez Panezai and Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio.
Senior officials of the communication ministry were also present in the meeting.
