Imran got bail because he is ‘judiciary’s darling’: Maryam Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was bailed by the ATC only due to favouritism.

In a sarcastic tweet, she alleged that the courts bailed Imran Khan because “he is judiciary’s ‘laadla’ (darling).”

Imran Khan was granted bail by an anti-terrorism court earlier in the day, in all four cases against him relating to the 2014 protest sit-ins in Islamabad.

In an earlier tweet, Maryam Nawaz also condemned media reports about Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif’s visits to Saudi Arabia, by saying that they were “lies.”

“How many lies will you spew? You have to answer to God too,” she posted on Twitter.

Ousted premier Nawaz Sharif and Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif met with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman (MBS) late Monday night, according to reports.

Punjab government spokesperson Mohammad Ahmed Khan denied the allegations about the Sharifs’ Saudi Arabia visit, as “baseless.”

He said that it is an honour for the CM to have an aircraft sent from Saudi Arabia for his visit, as the country is a tried and tested ally of Pakistan— adding that the friendly ties between the two countries cannot be broken by any “negative propaganda.”

Opposition parties have questioned the motive behind visits by the Sharif brothers to Saudi Arabia, and have asked if an agreement is being negotiated to save the Sharifs.
