ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, in a series of tweets, dubbed the outgoing year 2017 as “hope for justice” and called the year 2018 as the “most exciting time in Pakistan’s history” on Sunday.

He lauded the work of Supreme Court (SC) and the previously constituted Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in 2017 to probe the corruption cases (also known as Panama Papers case) against the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif who was later disqualified on July 28 in the same year.

“For me 2018 promises to be a most exciting time in Pakistan’s history as the nation stands on the threshold of change with justice and rule of law bringing an end to corruption mafias; & making this country great and prosperous for ALL its citizens.”

Earlier, the SC had absolved Imran Khan in the disqualification case in relation to his residence and offshore company. However, in another constitutional petition filed against PTI General Secretary Jahangir Tareen, the latter was disqualified by the SC on December 15.
