LAHORE: PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz said on Saturday that fear of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif is now driving his political opponents to form political alliances.
She added that Nawaz Sharif is a significant part of Pakistan’s politics and his opponents are discussing him at rallies as they are left with nothing else to discuss.
Criticising Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, she said that the PTI leader repeatedly changed his stance in court but still did not get disqualified.
She further stated that the court did not accept Imran’s assets and the offshore company even when Imran Khan himself admitted owning those.
She also said that the opponents of her father were worthless and had nothing to rely on except sit-ins, NAB cases and the “umpire’s finger”.
Referring to the NAB references filed against her family, Maryam said that NAB will not be able to find anything against the Sharifs, adding that they could not find anything against Nawaz Sharif even after dragging him to court four times.
She also said that she can’t help laughing at the witnesses who come forward to testify against Nawaz Sharif. Maryam claimed that she herself saw on four occasions that “witnesses said that they were given the papers”.
She pointed out that PTI chief had been repeatedly changing his stance in the Supreme Court.
“He [Imran] says he got struck on his head and that’s why he forgot about the details of his London flat sale,” she maintained.
“The helicopter that Imran Khan uses is run on the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government’s funds, but nobody asks him about that.”
She concluded her address by saying that the PML-N will again win the elections in 2018 and return to power.
Earlier, Maryam had said that court’s decision in Imran Khan’s case proved that iqama was only an excuse and Nawaz Sharif was just targetted as he is the representative of the people.
The judgment stated that Imran’s former wife Jemima gave Imran funds for buying the Bani Gala estate.
