During the press conference at Muslim League House in Karachi, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) office-bearer, West Karachi (UC-37) Chairperson Saeedullah Afridi thrashed a journalist after he complained about the behaviour of PML-N leader Asmat Anwar Mehsud, saying that the latter’s son had assaulted a journalist. The assault by Afridi was also joined in by Asmat Anwar and his son.
During the mayhem, cameras were also broken while life threats were also hurled [at the journalists].
The journalists were restricted to the venue of the presser for quite some time; however, they were able to leave when the Rangers and police reached the site and took control of the situation.
The newly appointed adviser to the prime minister on financial affairs, Ismail, could not continue his news conference and soon left the venue.
