IGP Moazzam Jah Ansari informed the minister that 400 devotees were rescued and saved by the valiant and brave security forces with the help of police personnel, during and after the incident.

On the occasion, Ahsan Iqbal said that those who attacked churches and other places of religious significance were the enemies of humanity.

During a discussion with Pastor Simon Basheer and members of the Christian community, the interior minister said that places of worship were the assets of the nation, adding that their protection was the responsibility of both the government and the public.

He assured Simon Basheer that the federal government would cooperate with them in initiating maintenance work on the church and give compensation to the families of the church attack victims.

Supporting the interior minister’s statement, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Mohammad Yousuf said that the church would be repaired soon and the government would also provide financial support for the maintenance of the building.

He said, “We cannot bring back those who lost their lives in the deadly attack, but we will continue our mission against terrorism and restore peace in Pakistan.”
