Teachers boycott Sindh University exam in protest against low wages

HYDERABAD: Teachers boycotted BA examinations that were being conducted under Sindh University on Thursday, protesting low wages for paper checking.

The exam was postponed, due to the protest, in multiple examination centres including Hyderabad, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Badin, Jamshoro, Sehwan, Matiari and Thatta.

Responding to the call for a boycott by the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA), the protesting college teachers are demanding that their wages for paper checking should be on par with the university teachers.

Some students also protested in front of examination centres against the inconvenience that they had to face due to the postponement of exams.

Sindh University Vice Chancellor Fatah Mohammad announced that Thursday’s postponed paper will be conducted after the conclusion of the examinations, adding that BA, MA exams will continue to be conducted as per schedule.
