Qadri to meet Asif Ali Zardari tomorrow

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has said those who are constantly beating the drum that political decisions should not be made in courts are now themselves approaching foreign powers for a favourable decision.

“They must be ashamed of themselves for their so-called democracy and justice movement,” he added.

Addressing an emergency meeting of the party’s core committee, he said, “Sharifs have an organised international network, so whenever they are in trouble, foreign planes and ‘plans’ come to their rescue.”

He said the nation will not accept any new National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) for plunderers and killers, adding, “If any such ordinance is granted, it would mean not just burial of justice for good, but also serious humiliation of state, nation, parliament, constitution and democracy.”

Dr Qadri is expected to meet with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Friday to discuss the political situation of the country as well as the All Parties Conference (APC).

The former president is expected to meet PAT chief along with a delegation comprising Khursheed Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Rehman Malik.

The sources said Model Town incident report, the APC and future course of action would be discussed during the meeting

The PAT chief said after declassification of Justice Najfi report, if victims got no justice, then that would mean the law will remain toothless before powerful elite, and weak would never get justice in the state of Pakistan.

“Now, state institutions have to decide if this country is to remain a fiefdom of a single family or it is to be run under the constitution,” he added.

Commenting on the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s sudden tour of Saudi Arabia on a special private plane, he claimed that an old American frontman of the Pakistani origin has been arranging their meetings with people belonging to more than one country.

He said that there is a fear that history of 1999 can repeat itself, and the killers of innocent people and looters of national exchequer can flee to the foreign country.

He said that the aircraft that Shehbaz Sharif has flown in is not registered in Pakistan.

He reiterated that if a new NRO comes to the aid of the accused, the nation will not accept it.

The core committee was later briefed by party’s General Secretary Khurram Nawaz Gandapur.
