—PML-N, PPP, MQM rigged 2013 general elections
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has accused his political rivals, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), of rigging the previous general elections in 2013 in their respective areas.
Justifying his 2014 sit-ins, Khan said that the vote bank of the PML-N skyrocketed only due to rigging in 2013, which left the PTI with no option but to resorted to the sit-ins.
In a series of tweets on Thursday, the PTI chief said that all three parties selected their own ‘umpires’ before contesting the 2013 elections, as he appealed for transparent elections in 2018.
Imran Khan tweeted, “We were right in doing the dharna to get an investigation so next elections would be free and fair. Now it must be clear to all how PML-N vote bank went from 6.8 million in 2008 to 15 million in 2013!”
KHAN ORDER PROBE INTO MISCONDUCT: Separately, Khan has also taken notice of the mismanagement in party convention and constituted a committee headed by party leader Naeemul Haq to probe the matter.
The committee will review the matter and submit a report to the head of the party after fixing the responsibility.
