913.26 kg narcotics seized, 28 arrested including four females in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Pakistan has seized 913.26 kgs of narcotics and arrested 28 people including an Afghan national and four women involved in drug smuggling.

The force also impounded seven vehicles while conducting 25 counter-narcotics strikes across the country. The seized drugs comprised of 760 Kg Opium, 134.55 Kg Hashish, 12.7 Kg Heroin, 3.2 Kg Amphetamine and 1.3 Kg Methamphetamine.

As per the details here on Thursday, the Quetta ANF in an intelligence-based operation carried out at district Chaghi, seized 700 Kg Opium. The drug was stocked at an isolated site situated at the general area near Gawala Stop, Killi Wadiya, district Chaghi.

In another operation, they intercepted a motorcyclist identified as Muhammad Naeem, a resident of Qilla Abdullah near the Graveyard on Killi Kotwal Road, Quetta and recovered 20 Kg Hashish from his possession.

Yet in another operation, the force intercepted a motorcycle at the general area of Kochi, Tehsil Dalbandin, district Chaghi, however, the person on-board managed to escape from the scene taking advantage of the darkness and leaving the motorcycle unattended. The search of the luggage loaded on his bike resulted in the recovery of 35 Kg Opium.

Moreover, they also arrested a motorcyclist namely Sher Dil, a resident of the city living near the Environmental Protection Office (BEPA), recovering 29.1 Kg Hashish from his personal possession.

Rawalpindi ANF while acting upon a tip-off intercepted a Mazda truck near Chach Interchange, Attock and recovered 75 Kg Hashish and 25 Kg Opium concealed in improvised cavities of the truck. A person on-board identified as Muhammad Asad, a resident of Jhang was apprehended during the operation.

In another operation in Rawalpindi, they arrested Amjad Pervez, a resident of Attock and Saeeda Gul, a resident of Peshawar from GT Road, near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza while they were travelling on a motorcycle and recovered 2 Kg Hashish from them as well.

The Lahore ANF recovered 280 grams of Hashish by arresting two local drug peddlers identified as Asim Masih and Sagar Masih both residents of Lahore. They were arrested near Shoukat Khanam Hospital, Lahore.

In another operation, they arrested Arshad Masih and Rafaqat Masih, both the residents of Lahore who were involved in local drug peddling and recovered 250 grams of Hashish from their personal possession. They were arrested near University of Management and Technology (UMT), Faisal Garden, Lahore.

The force also arrested two drug peddlers including Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Ramzan, both residents of Lahore who had 290 grams Hashish in their personal possession. They were arrested near Educational Institute, Johar Town.

In addition, Lahore ANF also recovered 160 grams of Hashish from the possession of an accused, Yasir Hafeez, a resident of the city who was arrested near Bibi Pak Daman Bazar, Lahore.

As per reports, most of the accused persons were involved in the distribution of drugs in educational institutions.

In the fifth operation, Lahore ANF in a joint operation with Punjab Rangers carried out a raid near Jamia Masjid Ya Rasool Allah, Kuli Saho, Tehsil Chunian, Qasur and arrested a local drug peddler Muhammad Boota recovering 10 Kg of Heroin from the accused.

In the sixth operation, the Lahore ANF team seized one 1 Kg Heroin from a shipment being sent to the Netherlands through a private courier service company based at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. The drug was tactfully concealed in 4 books.

Peshawar ANF intercepted a Suzuki Mehran near Karkhano Phatak, Industrial Estate, Hayatabad, Peshawar and recovered 2.4 Kg Hashish that had been concealed in it. A drug carrier identified as Muhammad Sajid, resident of Khyber Agency was also apprehended during the operation.

In another operation, the same team arrested a Riyadh bound passenger identified as Gul Zar, a resident of Peshawar at the Peshawar Airport and recovered 1.06 Kg Amphetamine concealed in his handbag.  He was to take off by PIA Flight No. PK-672.

Moreover, Peshawar ANF in collaboration with the ASF at Peshawar Airport arrested four passengers identified as Asif Ali, Nargis Begum, Noor Sahib Jan, residents of Kohat and Bibi Zainab Jan, a resident of Orakzai Agency, recovering 2.155 Kg Amphetamine concealed in their trolley bags. They were boarding for Riyadh by PIA Flight No. PK-674.

In addition, they also seized 1.7 Kg Heroin from a shipment being sent to the UK through a private courier service company based at Namak Mandi, Peshawar. The drug was concealed in a marbled decoration piece, flower vase and a jewellery box separately.

In the fifth operation, the Peshawar force arrested an Afghan National named Khan Agha from Gate No. 02, Peshawar University and recovered 200 grams of Heroin from the accused.

In three separate operations at Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, the force arrested Muhammad Javaid, a resident of Kohat, Saeed Ur Rehman, a resident of Khyber Agency and Muhammad Shahid, a resident of Peshawar and recovered 1.2 Kg, 1 Kg and 1.15 Kg Hashish respectively.

Karachi ANF arrested a foreign-bound passenger namely Muhammad Fayyaz, a resident of Charsadda at the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi and recovered 1.3 Kg Methamphetamine concealed in a jar. The accused intended to fly for Riyadh by PIA Flight No. PK-725.

Moreover, they intercepted a truck near Jamra Bus Stop, Shikarpur-Jacobabad Highway and recovered one 1 Kg Hashish from the possession of a person on-board identified as Mithal Khan, a resident of Khairpur who was apprehended during the operation.

All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations under the CNS Act 1997 and further investigations are underway.
