Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Minister of State for Interior Affairs Muhammad Tallal Chaudry, hitting back at the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), said that Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahirul Qadri is just an excuse for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Asif Zardari to create an alliance against Nawaz Sharif

He alleged that ‘Bhutto’s party’ needs a ‘maulvi’ (cleric) in Punjab to create a silent alliance.

“Tahirul Qadri is nothing but an excuse for the PTI and Zardari to create an alliance against Nawaz Sharif, because they [know], individually, they stand no chance in elections against the PML-N president,” he said in response to Zardari’s earlier jibe at the ruling party.

“All Toms, Dicks, and Harrys of politics want to unite to contest elections against Nawaz,” he said. “But they can only give Nawaz competition if they have done something [substantial for voters].”

“Nawaz fulfils his commitments—be it load shedding, terrorism or the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project—and people trust him.”

The PML-N leader warned that the PPP will reap what it has sown.

“Allegations of a National Reconciliation Order (NRO) don’t sound good coming from those who have already taken the deal [in the past],” Chaudry said in response to an earlier statement by PPP co-chairman, alleging that the ruling party is still struggling to get an NRO.

“The PML-N does not believe in NRO,” he stressed.

“The PPP should be ashamed of not having caught the murderers of Benazir,” he said. “What kind of peace and justice will they [PPP] give to the people of Pakistan when they have been unable to catch the murderers of Benazir?”

Earlier, at the tenth death anniversary of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto, Zardari had said that just like the PML-N has issues with his party, the PPP, too, has issues with the ruling party.

“Just like you have issues with us, we have issues with you as well. You have always backstabbed us. This time we will not support you,” he said.

Zardari had also rejected talk of an NRO in the future and said the party will not accept another compromise.

“We spend 12 years in jail while you spend a few months and then get to sign an NRO and attain your freedom. That will not happen again. We reject any NRO in the future,” Zardari had said.
