ISLAMABAD: Huge traffic jams are being witnessed on a daily basis presently on Islamabad Expressway, IJP road and Murree road forcing people to wait for hours as traffic is blocked by the police to facilitate the movements of VVIPs.

Miles long traffic jams were witnessed on the IJP road and Expressway on Sunday and Monday during the foreign VVIPs visit for the Speakers conference. The IJP road was totally blocked on one side from Pir Wadhai to Faizabad as the traffic police stopped the traffic from crossing the Faizabad flyover for security reasons.

Liaquat Jadoon, a passenger in a Taxi said he wanted to reach Holy Family hospital but could not due to the traffic jam. He said he had no option but to leave the taxi and move on foot to reach the hospital.

Annoyed drivers of trucks, taxis, cars and others said that this was becoming a routine ahead of VVIP movements.

On the whole, the annoyed commuters said the government must ensure that the movement of the VVIPs from and to the airport must be done through helicopters and if this was not possible, the maximum time for stopping the traffic should not be more than five to ten minutes to minimise the sufferings of the masses.
