LAHORE: Supreme Court of Pakistan has stopped private medical colleges all over the country from inducting students into their programs until the court orders to the contrary. The decision was announced during the hearing of a suo moto case against an increase in tuition fee of private medical colleges.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar whilst hearing the case, has stated that even though his recent visit to Mayo Hospital, Lahore was criticised, the judiciary will keep working on issues that pertain to healthcare of the masses, especially children.

The CJP, heading a two-member bench at the Lahore registry of the Supreme Court expressed anger over private medical colleges taking a high fee from the students.

He observed that medical colleges are being run on the rooftops and garages, adding that the court should be told about the structure of such colleges. He remarked that even though we are producing doctors, we don’t know whether our tool is correct.

He sought details of bank accounts of private colleges’ owners and announced that keeping in mind the urgency of the situation for the students and their parents, the case will also be heard on Saturday and Sunday.

Commenting on the situation of the private medical colleges, the CJP stated that unsuitable conditions were being provided yet the owners of all such institutions demanded a high fee from the student body.

CJP further announced that Punjab clean water case proceedings will also be held along with this case and instructed the relevant authorities to present proper record of both the cases at the earliest.

He said that it had come to his knowledge that a vehicle worth Rs35 million had been bought for a project for clean water.

“If the vehicle has been bought, the court must be informed what kind of a vehicle it is.”

He asked the advocate general Punjab to provide details on the matter. “The vehicle should be brought here if possible,” he added.

The hearing was adjourned until Wednesday.

  1. Sir what about admission procedure for this year? Jo admission o chuky hain wo save secure hain ya wo admsns null and void hn?

  2. Sir what about our admission orders were given to stop admission in private medical colleges but still colleges are doing there admission and asking for the fees from the parent. The order to inspect all medical college are too slow how long we have to suffer why our future is in risk. No medical colleges is obeying your orders they didn’t stop admission. Pmdc is the most corrupted why they are allowing admission in banned colleges it’s there responsibility to keep an eye on such kind of colleges. What about the children’s who have taken admission in such colleges what about there future. Why courts are so slow in giving there decisions
