Peshawar: Dozens of illegal structures demolished in anti-encroachment drive

PESHAWAR: The district administration has launched a comprehensive anti-encroachment campaign and demolished several shops and illegally constructed buildings on government land.

The anti-encroachment force of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) equipped with heavy machinery conducted anti-encroachment operations in the presence of law enforcement personnel in the city.

Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Zubair Niazi while talking to the media said that these illegal structures were razed at different places including Meteorological Department Road and Syndicate and around three dozen shops, four houses and numerous shades were removed from government land during the drive.

He said that the anti-encroachment campaign has been launched without any discrimination and is being monitored thoroughly.

He informed that no one would be allowed to take the law into his or her own hands by encroaching upon the government land.

Niazi further said that the city roads, footpaths and open spaces would be cleared of encroachments during the drive which will also improve the traffic situation in the city.

The administration is also taking stringent measures to ensure the quality of edible items at affordable prices to citizens and imposed fines on shopkeepers for overcharging or violating hygiene standards.
