NAB chairman reviews department’s performance

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal while chairing a meeting to at NAB Headquarters on Tuesday directed all the NAB Regional Bureaus to file applications in respective accountability courts for early hearing of references under trial.

The NAB looks to recover Rs900 billion from the corrupt and punish them accordingly.

The chairman said that 499 inquiries and 287 investigations are under process in Regional Bureaus of NAB and have not been completed within the prescribed timeframe of 10 months as per the standard operating procedure.

Iqbal also probed the NAB officials for reasons for this delay.

As many as 1,138 references are under trial in respective accountability courts. The under trial references include 347 references of NAB Lahore,  275 references of NAB Karachi, 185 references of NAB Khyber Paktunkhwa, 97 references of NAB Baluchistan, 171 references of NAB Rawalpindi, 34 references of NAB Multan and 29 references of NAB Sukkur.
