SARGODHA/MULTAN: The 142nd birth anniversary of the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated here on Monday.
A number of events, including seminars, debates and exhibitions to mark the day were organised in which achievements of Quaid-e-Azam were highlighted.
The main ceremony was held at Civil Defence Hall arranged by Sargodha Arts Council in which Sargodha Commissioner Nadeem Mehboob was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said that the ideal way to pay tribute to Quaid was not to hesitate from any sacrifice for the development and prosperity of the motherland. He added that the significance of Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s teachings and thoughts was increasing with each passing day as he had given us the golden principles of unity, faith and discipline using his foresight and political acumen.
The Sargodha Arts Council has also arranged an exhibition of Quaid e Azam’s rare pictures at the civil defence hall which was visited by people from all walks of life.
The birth ceremony of Quaid-e-Azam was celebrated with great favour and enthusiasm in Multan as well.
In this regard, a ceremony was held at Raza Hall by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) District President Bilal Butt, accompanied by General Secretary Sheikh Athar Mumtaz, Additional General Secretary Muneer Langah, Youth Coordinator Abdur Rehman, Arshad Bhutta and others.
Speakers highlighted the achievements of Quaid-e-Azam and his services for Pakistan.
Later, office-bearers of the PML-N cut a huge cake to mark the day.
Another ceremony was organised at Bosan Hall by municipal corporation members namely Rubina Shaheen, Sarwat Khan, Fehmida Chohan and Naseem Jamil. National songs were played followed by cake cutting ceremony to mark the birthday.
MPA Sultana Shaheen also spoke on the occasion.
Jaranwala Municipal Committee (MC) also organised a special ceremony on Monday to mark the anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam.
Jaranwala MC Chairman Rae Mustafa Babar presided over the function which was also attended by MC Vice Chairman Habibur Rehman, Chief Officer Muhammad Arif Warraich, Councilors Malik Irfan Khalil, Saeed Anwar, Shahid Channa, Aftab Akbar, Sarfraz Ghauri, Iftikhar Pappu, Muzaffar Phullarwan, Rizwan Bhatti, Nauman Khan, Abdus Shakoor Gujjar, Abdur Razzaq Jatt, Malik Ashraf, Faheem Arshad, Sheikh Ashraf Monga, Abid Shakeel, Rae Mushtaq, Javaid Gujjar, Malik Shabbir Hussain and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Rae Mustafa Babar said that the government was committed to transforming Pakistan into a developed and prosperous country as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
A cake was also cut to celebrate Quaid’s birth anniversary whereas children presented national songs.
