Scuffle mars PTI’s Quaid Day convention

LAHORE: A scuffle marred Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  (PTI) ‘Eiman, Ittihad and Tanzeem’ convention held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Sunday to celebrate the birthday of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

PTI top leadership that included the Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Punjab Assembly opposition leader Mehmood ur Rashid, Central Information Secretary Shafqat Mehmood, former governor Chaudhry Sarwar, Ijaz Chaudhry, Yasmin Rashid, Andleeb Abbas Waleed Iqbal, Hammad Azhar and presidents of different wings were present at the convention.

Aiwan-e-Iqbal’s hall was full of PTI workers, and they were answering to the slogans like Pakistan Zindabad, Imran Khan Zindabad, Shah Mehmood Mard-e-Haq,  Chaudhry Sarwar Zindabad and etc.

However, since no slogans were chanted for Aleem Khan by the organizers, which enraged latter’s supporters, making them chant in his favour.

When Shah Mehmood Qureshi came on the stage to address the convention, the two groups started to fight, resulting in injury to one worker. Police came in and the angry supporters of Aleem khan were expelled from the hall.

A large number of PTI workers from all over Pakistan participated in the convention in which national songs were sung to pay tribute to the Quaid. The PTI leaders paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam and lauded his services for Pakistan.

PTI leaders claimed that under Imran Khan’s leadership, they will sweep general elections in 2018, and will run the country as per the vision of Quaid-e-Azam.

Strict security arrangements were observed at the convention.
