Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Dr Farooq Sattar said Sunday that all those people who are not a part of the land mafia are being driven away from their homes.
Sattar said that he especially sympathised with the poor people of Sarjani Town who were thrown out of their houses, while pledging to stand by their side in this testing hour.
He also said that his party would support any government action to demolish illegally constructed marriage halls in the city, adding that his party would also support any Supreme Court decision in this connection.
The MQM-P chief said that the problems being faced by poor people were not being presented properly in front of the apex court, adding that in almost all cases, the problems of the poor were presented by government officials according to their own point of views.
Meanwhile, Sattar said that a camp had also been set-up in Sarjani Town to accommodate those displaced in the ongoing operations against members of the land mafia and china-cutting industry of the provincial metropolis.
Earlier on Saturday, Sattar had said that his party opposed the land mafia on all fronts. He had also said that though they respected the apex court’s verdict in this regard, but they would not allow the displacement of residents in different areas of the city.
