Malaysian caught smuggling guns in microwave at Karachi airport

KARACHI: The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Saturday claimed to have arrested a suspected member of a banned terrorist organisation for smuggling a large cache of weapons and ammunition which were concealed in a microwave oven and his shoes to avoid detection at Jinnah International Airport.

According to the reports, the ASF officials searched the luggage of a passenger, who was travelling to Bangkok on a private airline-342 from Jinnah International Airport Karachi.

Four pistols, eight magazines and 70 bullets were seized from the Malaysian national, identified as Al Muhd Alfie Kqhyrielthat.

The suspect was handed over to intelligence agencies as they suspect he may have been abetted by facilitators in both Karachi and Peshawar.

Officials did not specify which organisation the suspect belonged to.

In 2015, the ASF had arrested a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent, Joel Cox, who was attempting to board a domestic flight to Islamabad as the ASF discovered 15 bullets of 9mm caliber and a pistol clip in his baggage.
